Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich

CHEF-MATE® Basic Cheddar Cheese is spread onto thick slices of sourdough bread and layered with pepper relish, bacon and granny smith apple. After being grilled to perfection, it’s coated with even more CHEF-MATE® Basic Cheddar Cheese Sauce for the ultimate grilled cheese experience.

  • Bread, sourdough, sliced ½ inch thick -- 2 slices
  • Chef-mate Basic Cheddar Sauce -- 2 Tbsp + 2 tsp
  • Pepper relish -- 2 tsp
  • Bacon, cooked -- 2 pieces
  • Apple, Granny Smith, sliced 1/16 in. thick -- 4 slices
  • Oil, neutral -- 2 Tbsp

    Assemble sandwich: spread 2 tablespoons basic cheddar sauce on 1 slice of sourdough. Spread 2 teaspoons pepper relish on the other slice of sourdough.

    Top the basic cheddar slice with 2 pieces cooked bacon, covering the whole surface of the bread. Place granny smith slices on top of bacon.

    Take the slice with pepper relish and place relish-side down on the bacon slice, forming a sandwich.

    Heat the oil in a nonstick skillet over low heat. Spread 1 teaspoon basic cheddar sauce on one outward facing slice of sourdough.

    Place the sandwich cheese-sauce side down in the skillet and cook over low heat, 3-4 minutes. While sandwich is cooking, spread 1 teaspoon basic cheddar sauce on the bread side that is facing upwards. Turn up heat to medium low and cook for another 30 seconds.

    Flip sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

    Transfer sandwich to a cutting board to cool, then slice in half diagonally.
